What is FUNetix?

FUNetix is a 17-years-new, patented, science-based, and incredibly simplified way of teaching reading to children that's finally available to parents and children anywhere in the United States and anywhere in the world via the FUNetix 12 Hour Reading App available in the App Store and Google Play store.

FUNetix is 17-years-new, but in some ways, it is more than 2,000 years old. The patented FUNetix Reading Decoding System is rooted in an ancient methodology that shows readers how to "sound out" written words.

FUNetix earned its patent by borrowing the time-tested method called "diacritics" (which was developed more than 2,000 years ago by the Greeks, and adopted more than 1,000 years ago by the Hebrew and Arabic languages, to teach ALL children how to read those languages), and uniquely, completely and systematically applying it to English in a child-friendly and simple way.

FUNetix teaches children how to "map" or "marry" all 44 sounds of the English language to the letters and letter combinations that make up English words. This mapping (made easy by diacritics) takes all of the guesswork out of "sounding out" words.

We show you the sounds

FUNetix is more efficient and scalable than any other phonics-based reading system because FUNetix teaches phonics by showing children the sounds in every English word, using a child-friendly set of pictograms, or "sound symbols," that are easy to learn and remember.

For instance, see if you can remember that the Acorn says /ay/, the Eagle says /ee/, the Eye says /eye/, the Ocean says /oh/, and the Spoon says /oo/. Through 17 years of clinical research and field testing, we know that most children ages 6-9 can learn all of the English sounds in about 3 hours or less.  Once they know these, they are "off to the races," and reading becomes incredibly easy!
